Still doing TAST and other sewing

Here are my versions of Week 8 for TAST. Yes, they are from last year since I've been too busy this week to do new versions but now I can put them on the playing cards instead of having them paper clipped to the printed directions. I'm thinking I may continue to do this so I can get the embroidery done I really should be doing.

These I did do last week. Sharron gave us 3 extras on her blog. The one to the left is called Ainu Running Stitch. The one on the right is Threaded back stitch which I love to use for my heart embroideries. The one in the center is called Laced Pekinese. I LOVE how it looks. It was kinda hard to do to keep the back stitches even on the cotton fabric I normally use so I made it on a scrap of 28 count cross stitch fabric. It came out great. Not sure what I would use it on except for a crazy quilt but I do want to make it again.

This is a pic of a coat I'm making. I started it probably 5 years ago and had planned on sewing it right away since I love this pattern but life got in the way. I kept putting it off till I decided it was time to finish some of the many UFOs I have in plastic bins and boxes. I have a dark green version of this coat that I made 2 years before buying the supplies for this one. I did add a lining and this one will have one, too. My goal is to do 1 sewing step in the directions every 2-3 days. That way it can get done and I won't get over whelmed. I seldom sew clothing for myself any more so it's such a HUGE project to get myself "in gear" to actually make something. I'll keep posting pics as I work on it but there's a really good chance I'll sew for a while then hang it all in the closet for another time.

I have 2 free embroideries for March so come back!

It's late but here's the Feb. freebie

This has been done for a few weeks but I just haven't felt like getting on the computer. I've been reading Terry Pratchett's Disc World series because I just don't feel like making anything. Guess I'm feeling too over whelmed and there's never enough time in a day to do everything I want so I've just stopped doing most things. My DH took early retirement and now I seldom have time that's not interrupted with cooking, cleaning, and him asking questions. That's one reason I decided to do easy embroideries for each month.

There's more embroidery in this design than last month's freebie. I sewed buttons in the 3 hearts but you could add letters, embroidered flowers, or just leave them empty. If you are wondering how I did the wavy outline it just a running stitch that I went back and forth, from one side to the other, under the stitches. It's not wrapped just slid under the running stitch. The centers of the flowers are buttonhole going in a circle with a french knot in the center. The heart is chain stitches in green, the little hearts are stem stitched, and the rest is back stitched.

A January Free Embroidery

It's an easy to make design for this month. I don't know about you but I'm dealing with a bit of depression and just don't feel like getting online lately. That's how this month's freebie ended up so simple.

This has 3 small yo-yos and glass seed beads. I've sewn it to a 6' square of snowflake print fabric with a running stitch. The text is back stitched. The heart is done in chain stitch. The small snowflakes are cross stitch with a straight stitch down the center. A bead is sewn in the center.

I'm planning on making a heart for each month, sewing it to a 6" square then sew all 12 together with white borders.

Sorry if you've been trying to get in contact with me but I'm spending most of my time working on new designs. If you've been trying to contact me at Facebook I haven't spent much time there either.

I have turned on comments for this post and will try to remember to do it for all the posts for this year. I haven't had comments on for years because I truly fear getting trolled. If you don't like what I'm sharing for FREE just go away and find something you do like. Sorry for the mini vent but there's way too much meanness online and I honestly can't handle it with my panic attacks.

Merry Christmas!

Just wanted to stop in and wish all a merry Christmas!

The day's quiet here, just the DH and me, oh and the dogs and cat. They got plenty of gifts to keep them busy till the new year. This is Micah and Dillon. Micah has grown so much since we got him in Oct. He's bigger than the cat now.

My print head gave up last week and nothing Canon suggested is working so either I get a new one or replace the print head.  Nice thing about Canon printers is that the print head just pops out! I've found a new lap top I'm mulling over. It's a 17" !!!! Love the big screen!!! Just have to decide whether to go with an 8GB or 16 GB memory. The price jumps quite a bit for the larger amount. Want to wait until next week in hope that the huge amount of packages to be delivered will have shrunk some. I ordered some embroidery floss from the Farmers Attic at etsy. Even though the package was coming from one side of PA to the other it took almost 3 weeks to come here. Would hate to have a computer sit around and possibly get lost or damaged.

Hope your day has been a happy and healthy one!
