Free tatted earring pat

I put a PDF for this earring pattern at my Patreon site: Creative Stitches

It's free! There's this white version and a black version. This is one of the patterns I cut from the new book of tatted jewelry I'm working on. It's almost done but now the holidays may keep it till sometime in January before it's done.

Fixed the tatted heart PDF

After finding the original PDF I put up at my patreon site was a mess I re-did it with charts. I think charts are so much easier to follow than written instructions. So far this tatting pattern and one for a fabric basket are up for free. There's no charge to sign up at patreon so it's all free.

info on my Patreon site and more

I finally got around to posting something at my Patreon site. I've put this off for almost a year but I had everything ready to go today to get the last embroidery directions up and decided to stop putting dealing with Patreon. Here's the free pattern I listed.

I designed this tatted heart pattern in the 90's and used to have it up at my old tripod site. I closed that and all the free patterns went away. Now I plan on putting them up at Patreon for free. Later I may add a pay for membership but for now everything will be free. These hearts make cute pins and ornaments. perfect to make and give as gifts. Below is the link.

My Patreon link

This site, NeedlenThread ,is my go to when I need inspiration. It's also a good place to see lots of embroidery stitches. I like it so much I recently joined Mary's Patreon site. I want to work on my straight stitch blending and know that working some of her projects will help.

We're working on corn flowers, which I've always called bachelor buttons, and it's been a nice break for me but of course it makes me fall behind in my other projects.

This is a picture of some things I've done. The felt and embroidered panda is from a painting class given by willowing.org. Tam has the most inspiring classes but when I saw this one I knew I had to do my own version in felt and embroidery.

The turquoise this is supposed to be a macrame leaf. I made it after taking a free class called making zen. I used to macrame a lot so it was fun to have a go again.

The felt heart is one I designed. It's going to have a bee or butterfly button added to it. I'm liking working with felt and have more than a few projects I'm designing. I'll tell you about one project, it's gnome girls! They will be another in my line of pincushions.

A New Tatting Pattern!

I finally finished a new tatting pattern. Actually some of these patterns were the original tatted quilts I made. The Grandmother's Fan and Garden patterns are not like the basic squares I use in the other 3 patterns or my other tatted quilt patterns. I was never sure about charting them so set them aside while I moved on to the basic block designs.

This pattern is now at my Etsy store. You get all 5 tatting designs plus the directions for the items they are on.

The Fans are on a circular bag. There's a pocket on the outside and a divider inside. The Irish chain is on a drawstring bag. Grandmother's fan is on a tea cozy. The pinwheel is on a pincushion with a pocket. The blockade blocks were made into pins and glued to spiral bound index cards for a journal to keep small motifs and their directions. It's based on art junk journals.

Right now and until the new year all the patterns are on sale !!

BTW, I updated the freebie Dec. pattern. I finally found all the info so the stitches and DMC colors are now listed.

Re-opened the Etsy store with limited items

A quick Happy Mothers Day's. I went to my Mom's grave (gee I hate even writing that) yesterday. I put a pretty silk arrangement of peonies (one of her favs) on one corner on the headstone. I already had one of white and pink mixed flowers on the other corner. My brother put a wreath of yellow flowers in the middle so she should be very happy since she loved flowers.

Ok, now about the Etsy store. I relisted most of my digital patterns. I think I still have a few more to add so if you want one but don't see it, convo me thru Etsy and I'll get it up. I'm still holding off on adding printed pattterns, tatting supplies, and other things that have to be mailed. I need to sort what I have and my shipping supplies. I'm also finishing up some decopauged tatting shuttles I started back in Dec. before I put everything aside. One side is done but I still have to do the other sides. The matching totes are also done. I'm still feeling blue but I'm hoping getting back to the store and crafting will help me fight the depression.

A Season of Mini Quilts - Summer is ready for sale!

Yay! I finally finished the Summer tatting pattern. I still have to order photos for printed versions but you can buy the PDFs at my Etsy store and at ebay right now. As always you get the color charts for each tatted project and the directions for the finished projects. This PDF is the largest of al the patterns so it may take a while to download.

Think about it, for only $12 you get the tatting patterns plus the hows for making the 2 tote bags, the sewing caddy, the small pillow, and the felt card holder. You'd probably pay about that much for a pattern for the sewing caddy or the bucket tote. So even if you aren't a tatter you could buy it for the sewing patterns.

To wish you a happy 2016 I put free PDFs of 2 calendars at my web site. One is 1 page of the entire year and the other is 12 pages with 1 month per page.

At Etsy Get a Discount When Buying 3 Patterns

I've never done this and to be honest I can't believe I haven't since I see other pattern designers do it. If you go to my Etsy store you can now buy 3 patterns and get a discount.

This photo shows the patterns for $7 & $8 but there is also one for $9 & $10. I also have them for my tatting patterns!

Speaking of tatting patterns the last Season of Mini Quilts - Summer is being edited. Once it's deemed ok I'll get the e-pattern up.

Been posting at Facebook instead of here

I've been posting at Facebook when I have the time instead of blogging. I just can't seem to find the time for both.

Yesterday I took the cover photo for the next season of tatting pattern. This one is summer. I had way too much trouble with the last pattern for it. I was all set to put the 4 tatted pieces on a fabric banner but couldn't find fabric I liked so I looked for scrap paper that matched. I found the perfect tablet of matching papers and extras stuff for decorations. After cutting out the rectangles and triangles and starting to decorate them I stalled again. It just didn't "talk" to me so I knew it wasn't what I was supposed to be doing with the tatting, I set it aside for 2 months, coming back to it again and again but not moving forward with it. Two weeks agao I knew I had to put it all away and come up with something new. That's when it came to me, another bag. I finished it quickley so now all that needs done is finishing the directions and ordering the cover photos for those who prefer a printed pattern.

Of course saying that's all that needs done doesn't mean I can finish it quickly, not with the puppy. She takes a lot of my time. With so many interuptions I find I can't concentrate on writing for very long.

Here's a peek at one of the patterns from the new Summer Pattern.

Tatted Quilt Squares Published by Handy Hands available now!

This is the cover of Handy Hands version of my Tatting Old Fashioned Mini Quilts Pattern. Granted you don't get the extra directions I had in the original and Barb had me redo the charts by rows since she feels it's easier for needle tatters to follow them that way but the thin book is gorgeous. The glossy pages and large full color charts make it easy to start wherever you want. Below is the back of the book.

One suggestion is to add a border around the 4patch piece. It looks unfinished now that I see it printed. When I made the original I used just black and white threads; sewed it to the checked fabric; then to yellow, black and white bee print fabric: and finally to white felt to make a small trading card. Being sewn to fabric I didn't think it needed a border. Here's a photo so you can see what I did.

Here's a photo of the original pattern in case you never saw it. I have to admit the new samples made with Lizbeth thread are much more eyecatching. The new Lizbeth version of Trip Around the World is soooo much better. With this photo you can get ideas of what to do with the finished pieces. Small pieces were made into jewelry and a tag. The teal spinning spools is glued to a card blank while the single square in square is glued to a paper bag.

Look for the Fall and Winter tatting Patterns at my etsy store and at patternmart. Due to a severe shoulder injury I haven't finished the spring pattern. I only had 1 pattern to finish. The directions were done except for that pattern but now I'n in too much pain to tat for very long. Hopefully my doctor will have me back to tatting soon.

Preview of Spring Tatting Pattern

Thought I'd give you a peek at one of the 5 patterns that will be in my next tatting mini quilts pattern. This one is for spring! I have the directions for 3 of the 5 done but I'm still finishing pattern #5. I did have 5 done but changed my mind about one pattern. I think those who have been buying my patterns will really like this one.

Also news about the original tatting mini quilts pattern. Handy Hands has finally published it! It should be ready for sale at the end of the month.

Tatting Book is being printed... finally!

These are some small origami bags I made last month. I took them to Tapas in Sewickley, PA to sell. I did have a few at etsy but they sold quickly.

I'm not listing much at the moment online to sell. I can't find the time and energy to make much since my husband was diagosed with cancer. Since he's home all the time I'm doing things with him instead of "creating" things to sell. When I do get time to myself I either tat, read, or I'm here on the computer.

Barb at Handy Hands is finishing up the editing on my tatting book so it will be printed soon. It will be different from the original tatting pattern as it will not have the pages on adding the finished items to things. It will also be written more for needle tatters than shuttle tatters. Shuttle tatters will still be able to follow the directions but they may find they want to chart the design differently to avoid cutting the thread so much. Needle tatters have an easier time of hiding thread ends that shuttle users. Here's what the cover should look like unless we make some more changes.

Winter Tatted Quilts Pattern almost done!!!

Fingers crossed, I'm almost done with the newest on my Seasonal Tatted Quilts patterns. The cover photo has been taken and is now being printed for those of you who prefer a printed version rather than a PDF. I'm going over the directions for a final edit and plan on having it up for sale no later than next week.

The next in the series is Spring. All of the tatting is done and now I'm doing the crafting part. When that's done I'll move onto photos and directions.

For those who buy my doll patterns, I've been working on a new fairy pattern. I work on her when I get tired of tatting.

Watch this blog for news of when the Winter tatting pattern will be up for sale at my etsy store and at Patternmart!

The photo above shows what the new winter patterns look like but isn't the cover photo.

FINALLY ! The first of my tatting pattern packs is ready for sale!

Well here it is, at last, my first tatting pattern! I have been working on these patterns since 1995 when I was a member of my local quilt guild, Beaver Valley Piecemakers. I have dedicated this series of pattern packs to the members. Right now I have plans for at least 1 more old fashioned quilts and 4 for each of the seasons. I'm working on Fall and hope to have it ready sometime next month.

I call this pattern pack "Tatting Mini Old Fashioned Quilts #1". The patterns are printed like the rest of my patterns. There is a cover with a photograph, and info on the 5 patterns and basic instructions that are in the pack. The rest of the pattern is printed book-style with 1 booklet of basic directions and hints. Each pattern is printed separately so you can just have the pages you need. I also have some directions on what I did with each tatted piece. There are color photos and diagrams for each of the tatted quilts. Everything comes in a zip top plastic bag.

Look for it at my Patternmart, etsy, and ebay stores in the next few days. I don't have it at my web site and won't until I get it moved. Remember geocities is closing so I'll be moving my web site. As long as you have it bookmarked as www.heislerscreativestitchery.com you'll find my site where ever I move it.
